Enneagram, a project.

I also have another little project in mind for you lot: Enneagrams.

Have a look at the Wikipedia page on them and see what you think.

I like to think of them as a sophisticated “How well do you know me” or horoscope, with a long-standing academic background, none of the hocus-pocus, and a lot more flexibility built in. Rather than them telling you what you are, they tell you some of your strengths and weaknesses (especially in relationships) that a person of your general personality might have. There are also various other types that can mix in depending on situation, stress/strength points, “wings” etc.

If you are so inclined, register for free at the Enneagram Institute and you can see how certain personalities might relate with each other.

To start, you could take this test. I warn you though, I found it for free (they normally charge!) in about thirty seconds on google, so it might not be that good.

As it happens, this is apparently me:

Main Type

Type 8 Aggressiveness |||||||||||||||| 70%
Type 9 Calmness |||||||||||| 50%

Your main type is 3

And before you say “another angsty introspective from Kane!”, just try it, you might find it interesting, and I am personally more interested in hearing about yours.

Alienation

For fear of alienating those who weren’t around in our childhood days – I just found a load of old photographs of us when we were teenagers online (dunno which is funniest Gary or Don)  Have a wee looksie and laugh and let out a big sigh while thinking they were the days – then thank God for them!

Oh and here’s that gangster Stevie Kane!

Death Envelope.

So, without going further into it, death has been on mind mind a wee bit lately. Abby and I were having a conversation the other night about who she would call if something happened to me, and how she would get my body home, etc.

It’s probably because I have virtually nothing to leave that I have never given much thought to a will, but as I lay there and thought about it, I realized there are lots of things I’d want done, or given to someone, or told to someone.

Anyway, long story short, I’ve decided to make a death envelope. I’m not calling it a will because handing out mementos will only be a part of it. I want lots of stuff in it, to be opened upon my demise.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions (even specifically for my situation)?

I know, I’m a morbid bastard.

Happy Birthday to ya…

People I know whose birthday is on or very near the fifth of August:

Marty McKenna
Don Gregory
Bob McElveen
Gerard McGarry
Jacob McGarry
Jesse Lecy

What are the chances?

Happy Birthday fellas.

Close, but not me.

Story

I thought some of you might ask about this, as our Colin in NZ did, so I thought I’d mention it.

It’s actually my main route into work and college, down from north of St Paul into downtown Minneapolis, and I was passing over about six hours before it collapsed. They’ve been working on repair/construction since the spring, so I’m reckoning someone ballsed up.

Anyway, I’m OK, and as far as I know right now, everyone else I know is.
