Music Video

I finally got hold of Duke Special (a.k.a. Pete Wilson) and he very graciously agreed that I could post my silly attempt at a music video, replete with his song, entitled “Love is a Series of Scars”.

I’m not sure my interpretation is at all what he meant, in fact I suspect it isn’t, but it’s such a beautiful song, I had to use it. If you like it, please buy it (it’s on i-Tunes, under ‘Duke Special’), and make sure you check out his site, dukespecial.com.

It’s now on my old post Back In The USA, from January. Before you think to give me shit about my ’singing’, know that I’ve heard it a few times already.

He tells me it was so hard to get him because he’s been so busy. It seems that all that pounding the pavement is starting to really pay off, and we might be hearing a lot more of him, and his music.

You’re a star Pete, I wish you well.

Lego Man

Given the recent comments about my detachable body parts, I have made a before and after comparision to further cement my lego-man status. You’ll see that I am indeed interchangeable…

Before After

… and pretty.

P.S. That girl is not Abby. It’s Susan, a friend from Peru. It’s the only other picture I have of me, sans lego attachment.

Knackered…

Yes, totally and utterly cream-crackered. Film-making and a full time job with problematic clients do not mix well.

I do have a new niece though. My brother has decided that the twins are not enough for his purposes. So he made Miriam have Blánaid:

Blánaid

I suspect he is breeding a new paramilitary force. As usual, his plans are ambitious and take forever.

Interestingly, he apparently commented that she looks like me, when usual requests for resemblances were made. Maybe he actually said that I look like her…

Trundling along…

I have nothing to show you. No videos or pictures. Zippidee-do-dah.

I’m working hard on my ONE project for Film 2. I’ve already shot most of it, but need re-shoots, have to re-cut it and finally add music, effects and foley. So I’m a ways away. Oh go on then, one picture…

Title Shot

By the time it’s finished, I’ll have probably spent somewhere between $1000 to $1500, and it might make its way to a festival or two.

I’m also working on a short narrative script (½ hour) in screenwriting. It’s kind of father-son thing. Interestingly, there is a character called Paschal in it, and my professor says he’s interesting “cos he’s kind of a hot-shot”. Clearly, I have not based him on any actual person, living or otherwise.

Finally, I take “Sound for Image” and do little projects for that. Actually, you could listen to one here. It’s Jake reading some poems that I’ve added effects to.

Maybe I did have something to tell you after all. Strangely, it fells like this is really part of my life now, and it’s become common place to write, shoot and record. I can read a light meter, I know what a slug-line is, I can differentiate between 14KHz tone and a 500 Hz one, woo hoo!

I know, boring, but I love it. I miss home desperately, yet I feel this is what I should be doing.

As Paul Jordan said to me on St Patrick’s Day, “You’re living the life, and we’re all jealous”. Of course, this was right after he explained his theory as to me being a fruit, but less said, better mended.
